“So what supplements do you take?” This is often how we decide for ourselves what supplements we should take – a stratagem that’s based strictly on another person’s results, lifestyle, and nutrition choices, let alone their personal health history. The decision of what supplements you should take should be based on your OWN health history, your unique lifestyle, and above all, your personal health and fitness goals, not someone else’s. From the end of October to the end of December, the average American gains 8-10 pounds. Well, it’s no surprise when we have three holidays focused around eating within a 90-day period, or make it four holidays if you count New Year’s too! Sure, making smart food choices is always going to be helpful. Yes, going to the gym consistently can make you leaner and stronger. But what about your internal system running the whole show? If your lymphatic system or adrenal glands get burned out due to environmental stressors, poor food choices (i.e. Halloween candy), or excessive use of stimulants, your body won’t be functioning in optimal condition, and that IS going to put a hamper on your upcoming holidays.
Strings of streetlights…Even stop lights…Blink a bright red and green
With the holiday season upon us, we are surrounded by thematic decorations of red and green. Instead of Santa hats and evergreens, we are going to redefine red and green as they relate to the world of supplements.
With all the workout trends and nutrition fads, it’s easy to overlook and forget the most fundamental basics. Sometimes we can get too caught up in the macronutrient levels and the caloric values of the foods that we are eating that the most simple, and yet critical, steps are missed. Life is busy enough, so if all else fails, remember these basic rules.
In honor of Mother’s Day, this month we are focusing on women’s health. Heart disease, breast cancer, osteoporosis and depression are among the top health concerns for women these days. Many women lead very busy lives and are notorious for not taking as much time or care for themselves as they do for others. Here are a few quick and easy steps to help women improve their health.
Step 1: Take a Multivitamin.
Nutrition & supplementation affects susceptibility to disease. Every year there are: 14 million cases of preventable heart disease, 1.2 million preventable cases of cancer, more than half a million preventable strokes, and thousands of babies born with neural tube defects that could have been prevented with a simple vitamin. The best offense is a good defense. Supply your body with the nutrients it needs to build up its immune system, the real power to fight off any disease. If you just can’t seem to lose those last 10-15 pounds or you have hit a plateau in your weight loss goals, it may be time to clean things up.
When our bodies absorb toxins, they coat them in fat to prevent them from causing harm to our system. As a self-defense mechanism, the body will not allow the fat that protects itself from the toxin to be removed. For if the fat is removed, the toxins are allowed to freely cause harm or illness to our body. How to fix this? Remove the toxins.
There are several great ways to get the toxins out of those fatty pockets. And once those fatty pockets are toxin-free, the body will let go of them, thereby resulting in weight loss! Continue reading Spring Cleaning from the Inside-Out!

Why Do I Need a Multi-Vitamin?
The majority of Americans do not have a good diet. According to the USDA, only 10% of Americans have a “good diet.” Americans have continually failed to meet the RDA for several key nutrients, including calcium, vitamin E, vitamin B6, magnesium, and zinc. Other research shows that more than half of all Americans consume significantly less than the recommended intake for calcium, chromium, copper, folic acid, vitamin B6 & vitamin E. The rest needs improvement. For example, only 17% of the people consumed the recommended number of servings of fruit per day. In short, we cannot get all of the nutrients that we need on a daily basis through consumption of healthy foods, let alone the average American diet.
